This week a security flaw in OpenSSL, a popular, open-source standard for encrypting data, was discovered and labeled “Heartbleed.” The Virginia Department of Taxation ("Department") has verified that it does not rely on the vulnerable version of OpenSSL software for encrypting the data on its website. The Department continues to monitor the situation. External websites accessible through the Department’s site should be verified for their security separately.
Our Customer Service Walk-In center, located at 1957 Westmoreland St., Richmond, is open to assist taxpayers. The Walk-In will be open Monday — Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. through the end of May.
