Mission & Culture

Serving our customers is a top priority, and must take place without compromising our mission which is to serve the public by administering the tax laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia with integrity, efficiency, and consistency.

We make a serious effort to maintain a high level of efficiency and effectiveness in everything we do, and value innovation and creativity.  We are constantly focused on improving our business processes by leveraging new technology for communication within and outside our business.

Our culture is based on trust, fairness and mutual respect. We believe that a flexible work environment enables our employees to create a better work/life balance for a healthy life style. Many of our staff have alternate work schedules. Over 60% of our employees telework in some capacity, and approximately one-third of the agency staff work from home-based offices throughout the state of Virginia and in select cities across the United States. We are the leading agency of teleworking job opportunities in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

We believe that a healthy work/life balance enhances our ability to better work to find solutions to meet the needs of our customers, both external and internal.
