Community Involvement

The purpose of our TAX Community Involvement Program is to positively impact the communities where we live and work. We do this by building relationships and promoting goodwill both inside and outside the Agency. Lending a helping hand when it's needed.

You will find that TAX employees are involved in booster clubs, 4-H, the Humane Society, youth coaching and refereeing, girl scouting, and helping their "student buddy" with subjects such as reading, spelling and math. They help fight cancer by participating in the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k Run, contributing to the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign, a statewide workplace charitable campaign and by helping to build houses for Richmond's needy with the Richmond Metro Habitat for Humanity.

Since 2004, TAX has participated in the Central Virginia Food Bank drive, helping to get food to those who need it.

CVC

Each year TAX employees have been major contributors to the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign, a statewide workplace charitable giving campaign that helps support charities whose work is critical to Virginia communities ? free clinics, for example. Employees raised $36,023.03 in 2005 (surpassing our $30,000 goal and earning a Pinnacle award for Best Campaign) and $25,682 in 2006.

Habitat for Humanity

Tax employees helped build houses for Richmond's needy with the Richmond Metro Habitat for Humanity in August and September, 2006.

Central Virginia Food Bank

Since 2004, TAX has participated in the Central Virginia Food Bank drive, helping to get food to those who need it.

Carver Buddy Program

The Carver Buddy program, originally instituted by DMV, was opened to TAX employees as well during the 2004-2005 school year. Approximately 30 TAX employees went to Carver Elementary school twice a month and helped their student ?buddy? with such subjects as reading, spelling, and math. Response from the school was overwhelmingly positive.
